Exploratory / PreNursery - English II
Our inter-woven, flexible and differentiated educational program allows our students to enjoy meaningful learning experiences for their holistic development: physically, emotionally, socially, linguistically, visually, auditorily and intellectually.
Development / Grades 1 - 5
Global learning experiences engage students according to their personal and educational needs, building life-long learning skills for content mastery and developing skills for success in the next stages of education.
Middle-School / Grades 6 - 8
During the three years of Middle School, students are introduced into APS’ project development process (Authentic Products and Services) from the perspective of the four academies allowing for gradual and progressive growth into self-directed, self-motivated and self-regulated learners.
In 6th grade, students become acquainted with the APS project process, while acquiring the skills and attitudes for teamwork. The focus is on developing accountability, responsibility, dependability, resourcefulness and independence. At this grade level, students define their preferred 3rd language choice: French or German.
In 7th & 8th grades, students become immersed in each academy, one per grading period, thus studying all four academies in one year. They will become familiar with each Academy’s focus, its workspaces, tools, safety protocols, best practices, types of projects, and professional roles. Average class size: 25 students
High-School / Grades 9 - 12
During the four years of High School, students continue developing Authentic Products and Services following APS’ project development process and with a more in-depth exploration of the four academies as well electives in support of their preparation for college.
Through 9th and 10th grade, students will experience each of the four Academy areas, participating in Academy – specific roles during each semester so as to experience all four Academy roles. It is in this stage that Collaborative APS Projects are developed more in-depth of all fields in each Academy.
Students in 11th grade, will form trans-disciplinary teams with peers specializing in different Academy areas, and work on a yearly APS project of their choice, under the guidance of their Teacher Advisors and Academy Specialists, seeking to sharpen their professional skills. From their experience gained in this grade level students will design their 12th grade APS Capstone Project, one which will highlight all they have learned throughout their years at AIM Preparatory School and through which they will “Make their Mark” in the world.
It is through the four years of high school that students get an opportunity to strengthen their preparation for college via the Career Life Education course. This preparation goes hand-in-hand with their own interests and by choosing among regular, honors or AP level courses for a variety of subjects, some of them on-line and others through qualified members of our faculty.
Preparation for the SAT, certification of French and German language, world politics, student government, and yearbook are among the various elective courses that high school students can choose from.
Valle Oriente Campus high school students begin 9th. grade at their campus and then move to APS Campus for grades 10-12.
