We kicked off the year strong in November, with our students representing AIM with pride at the ASOMEX Mustangs 3x3 National Tournament 2024, hosted by The English School. Our teams brought home 1 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Beyond the medals, what truly stood out was the spirit of AIM—competing with honor, integrity, and heart.
In the second week of November, our students showcased outstanding talent, discipline, and perseverance in one of the most demanding sports—track and field. Over four intense days of competition under the sun and wind of Torreón, our athletes delivered an exceptional performance at the ASOMEX CAT 2024, earning a remarkable 45 gold, 31 silver, and 24 bronze medals—both individually and as a team.
Also in November, our high school boys’ team competed in the ASOMEX Juvenil C Minor Tournament in Puebla, making it to the final undefeated. Although the championship eluded us, our students gave us a masterclass in resilience and sportsmanship, proudly bringing home a silver medal that felt like gold.
To close out the first semester, AIM participated for the first time in the ASOMEX Flag Football Tournament at ASFM. Both our boys’ 2011 and girls’ 2009 teams reached the finals undefeated, competing fiercely. The girls' team emerged as champions, while the boys’ team claimed a well-fought second place.
The second semester began with a bang. At the end of January and beginning of February, our Fútbol 7 teams proved that the winter break only made them stronger. At the ASOMEX Nationals at CAP Puebla, our students earned a championship in the boys’ 2009 category, two runner-up titles in the boys’ and girls’ 2011 categories, and a third-place finish in the girls’ 2009 category.
From February 6–10, we competed in the ASOMEX Juvenil B Basketball National Tournament at ASF Mexico City. Though our teams didn’t make it to the podium, they played with heart and passion. Both teams made it to the quarterfinals, gaining invaluable experience and growth through close, hard-fought matches.
Later in February (14–18), our high school athletes, joined by selected 8th and 9th graders, competed in the ASOMEX Juvenil C Major Basketball Tournament. We secured two third-place finishes, and our high school girls’ team received one of ASOMEX’s most prestigious awards—the Sportsmanship Trophy—a reflection of their outstanding conduct and performance both on and off the court.
As February came to a close, our soccer teams participated in the ASOMEX Juvenil B National Tournament at ASF. Despite facing fierce competition and high-level play, we were unable to reach the podium this time. However, the experience was invaluable and our students rose to the occasion with commendable effort.
March brought more excitement. At the ASOMEX Juvenil A Soccer Nationals hosted by The English School, our girls’ 2011–2012 team played one of the most thrilling finals of the semester. Although the final score was not in our favor, our girls fought valiantly and proudly earned a second-place finish.
From March 6–10, AIM had the honor of hosting the ASOMEX Elementary Basketball Nationals. While no official champions are declared in this category, our boys’ and girls’ teams both went undefeated, showcasing not only excellent play but also the top-tier coaching and organization that left a lasting impression on all participating schools.
From March 14–16, our chess team competed in the ASOMEX Chess Nationals, achieving:
- 1st place team – Elementary Category
- 2nd place team – Juvenil A
- 2nd place individual – Juvenil A
- 2nd and 3rd place individual – Elementary Boys
- 2nd place individual – Elementary Girls
To close out March (27–31), our students participated in the ASOMEX Elementary Soccer Nationals at ATS Tampico. While this event does not declare official champions, our boys’ team remained undefeated, and our girls’ team received the Sportsmanship Trophy—a true reflection of their character on and off the field.
From April 3–8, our high school soccer team competed in the ASOMEX Juvenil C Major National Tournament at ASFM. With support from 8th and 9th graders, they formed a strong and unified team. Though they didn’t reach the podium, they brought intensity to every match and proudly took home the Sportsmanship Trophy.
In total, AIM won three Sportsmanship Trophies this year, a testament to the values embraced by our students, teachers, and parents—the true essence of what these tournaments are all about.
We ended the semester on a high note with the ASOMEX Juvenil A Basketball Nationals. Our girls' team finished as undefeated champions, demonstrating not just athletic excellence, but also integrity, fair play, and teamwork. Every player was given equal opportunity to contribute, making the championship a shared triumph and a proud moment for AIM.
In summary, AIM delivered top-tier performances in nearly every ASOMEX tournament this year.
