The educational support department supports our students with specific needs, designing programs for those who require special instructional help to reach their potential. In addition, they work with gifted students, providing challenging activities for their further development. Our counselors support the overall educational environment on each campus through the implementation of different Wellness programs and campaigns. In addition, they serve as support for students in dealing with social and/or emotional issues, providing different interventions to help them deal with different circumstances that arise among them.
Through our mentoring program, we promote the development of healthy and successful students through a structured, trusting, consistent and purposeful relationship between the student and his/her mentor. Three important areas are involved in our mentoring program:
a) Personal Growth and Development,
b) Support for Academic Success
c) Educational and Career Planning
APS House System seeks to provide an environment to promote socio-emotional development, fellowship, healthy competition and active participation in school life.
For this purpose, APS’ community is divided into four houses: Tesla, Einstein, Picasso and Carnegie. It is within these houses that the Student Government body is conformed and whose main responsibilities are to: make proposals for school improvement, organize school events and organize competitions for the House Trophy.
Our English and Spanish as an Additional Language programs are offered to our international students in our Valle Oriente Campus. The overarching goal of the program is for them to receive specialized teaching support so that they are able to join our regular program once the foundations of English language have been achieved. Once EAL is passed, students then continue with SAL program, if needed.
Care and Learn
Designed specifically for Exploratory students who may be staying after school to wait for a sibling, the Care and Learn program provides a safe place for our students to continue to develop their skills in a fun and leisurely manner.
Our students from grades 1 through 9, who have an idle period at the end of the school day before their Fine Arts and/or Sports programs begin, will have the opportunity to attend study hall, supervised and supported by an adult.
AIM assures that students are properly cared for should they feel ill or in case of an accident. For this reason, we employ full-time doctors in each of our campuses. Additionally, a nurse is on hand to support Exploratory students. Our medical staff also develops and implements different health campaigns among our students.
Should an accident require an on-site revision or direct transport to the hospital, our students and staff have the coverage of the medical service company EMME Emergencias Médicas, who are prompt to respond to our calls, whether during regular school time or in after-school activities.
The school contracts an accident insurance policy, which covers minor accidents within the facilities or in events organized by the school. All AIM students must have coverage through an accident insurance policy. If a family does not wish to purchase the school policy, they must present proof of their children’s coverage through their family medical insurance plan.
All our campuses are protected through a 24/7 professional security guard service. As a precautionary measure, all visitors to our campuses, whether current or prospective family members, or persons summoned for appointments, much check-in formally before entering the school’s premises.
Fire and Lockdown Drills
We take all precautions necessary in case of emergency, by practicing fire and lockdown drills. The fire drills have the goal of getting everyone out of the school building as fast as possible, while the lockdown drills have the objective of “closing down” the school, so that everyone is locked in and away from sight should intruders enter the building.
To ensure that students are released to their parents or the people authorized by them, AIM has developed an electronic system whereby the pictures, names and relationships of parents and authorized persons may be accessed through iPods during school dismissal. In this way we are assured that students are delivered only to people authorized by parents.
Students at San Pedro and Valle Oriente Campus, wear specially designed AIM uniforms every day. The official uniform includes a white polo shirt with the AIM logo, green pants, jacket and/or hoodie, white socks and tennis shoes which can be white, black, green or any combination of these colors. This uniform and/or optional items may be worn on a daily basis. However, the official uniform is required when representing AIM in special events or activities.
Students in our APS Campus are required to wear special shirts and hoodies. Students in High School are bound by APS dress code.
Our Cafeteria´s main objective is to offer our students and all the AIM community, nutritional and balanced meals, as well as snacks in order to safeguard their physical wellness. Our menus are developed and supervised by a Nutrition Specialist. In addition, the food tastes good!
Student bus transportation services are offered by AIM through Grupo SIR, a bus transportation company recognized for safety and professionalism. Services can be contracted to and from the APS Campus (through student pick-up and drop-off at different bus stops) and to and from the San Pedro Campus and the soccer fields.
